The Health Benefits of Joining MMA Gyms

MMA Gyms are more specialised than your regular fitness centre and specialise in mixed martial arts. There are specific health benefits to choosing this type of training.
Whether you join one of the MMA gyms in your area for fitness purposes or because you are considering getting competitive it pays to know what benefits training has on your body. Mixed martial arts training is becoming more common a general fitness programme and here are some of the benefits of this type of training.
Strength
The main benefit of MMA training is of course the enhanced strength you can develop. The various types of martial arts built into the training regime mean you exercise every muscle in your body and see strength increase across it as a whole. The variety involved in MMA means that you get the chance to target every muscle in your body. Your core strength will be enhanced further every time you exercise at one of your chosen MMA gym and a strengthened core can protect you against degenerative conditions including osteoporosis.
Endurance
Although strength is at the core of MMA training, general cardiovascular conditioning is also involved in each session. Enhancing your endurance in small increments gives your entire body the chance to perform at a better level and more efficiently. Martial arts technique drills are the best way of working cardiovascular training into your routine and therefore improve your endurance as a whole.
Balance & Co-ordination
As your strength and endurance improve so do your balance, flexibility and co-ordination as your body’s core is simply becoming fitter and stronger. Strong core muscles allow you to maintain better posture, balance and therefore practice techniques at a higher level and again further your abilities even more.
Self Confidence and Respect
Martial arts are about more than training your body; they also encourage you to train your mind. The self-discipline required to practice all the necessary skills and techniques in the range of martial arts you practice leads to a further degree of self respect. Likewise, when you workout and your body becomes more toned and your stamina increased, your self confidence will also receive a boost.
Choosing to train at an MMA gym as opposed to a regular gym is a great option if you’re looking for something different or you haven’t gained anything from training in regular fitness centres. What’s even better is that you can find these type of gym available at a pay as you go rate so you could try it out first to see if it’s for you and then continuing to train on a pay as you go basis is great for flexibility and saving cash.

Finchley Lido Leisure Centre

Whether you want to improve your fitness levels or enjoy a relaxed day out, the Finchley Lido Leisure Centre will offer something to suit you. We review the facilities and activities on offer at this leisure centre with a history.

The Finchley Lido Leisure Centre is situated in Barnet and is part of the Great North Leisure Park. It offers an enormous range of fitness and leisure facilities, and its location within the leisure park makes it an excellent venue for a family day out, as you can combine sporting activities with a meal out or a trip to the cinema or bowling alley. It is easily accessible by train, with the nearest stations being Finchley Central and East Finchley, and there are over 200 car parking spaces available on the site.

This is a leisure centre with history. The very word “Lido” conjures up images of old-fashioned stripy bathing costumes and the glamour of past decades. The leisure centre is built on the site of the original Finchley Lido, which dates back to the 1930's and was used for the Men's Water Polo in the 1948 Olympic Games. But there is nothing dated about the centre today – it offers state-of-the-art facilities in a modern, vibrant environment.

Facilities include three swimming pools: a 25-metre “fitness pool,” a leisure pool with a wave machine, air jets, water cannons and rapids, and an outdoor pool and garden area that pays tribute to the centre's history. There is an 80-station gym with professional personal fitness trainers available to design an exercise regime tailored to your personal needs, and a studio offering a wide range of exercise classes. Coaching and sports courses are also on offer. And if all of that sounds a bit like hard work, you'll be pleased to hear that you can relax and recharge in a dry heat sauna!

Finchley Lido Leisure Centre is run by GLL, a charitable foundation committed to improving community health and fitness in the long term. This means that accessibility and relevance for everyone are a priority: The centre is wheelchair accessible throughout, including the pool area; there are classes aimed specifically at children, teenagers and older adults, and there is a range of membership options to suit every budget.

Finchley Lido Leisure Centre offers flexible, pay-as-you-go rates. To find out more, visit www.payasugym.com
